Many of you may think how on earth can someone possibly ride a bicycle in this climate? The answer is just get yourself in the saddle, move your legs and you’ll see how easy and enjoyable this activity can be. As long as you move you will generate enough wind to keep help you cooling your body. Fishing in Khao Lak

In high season the Andaman Sea is very good for local fishing trips. Trolling and/or bottom fishing is a very popular tour. You can go on  fishing tours from tour operators in Khao Lak. From Bang Niang Beach some longtail boats leave for fishing trips. In general, with trolling you catch Barracuda, Tuna  and Mackerel.  With live bait you will catch Dorado, a yellow gold colored predator fish which gives a good fight!  With bottom fishing you will catch Grouper and some other fish that live in the deeper waters. It can be that you even get a squid on your live bait !

But it can also be that you get nothing ! There is never a guarantee for a  catch !

In Khao Lak the fishing tours are mostly recreational but there are also some companies offering big game fishing (Phuket) and specialized freshwater fishing tours.

Similan Islands

Soon (1st of November)  the Similan Islands will open again ! The white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and underwater world can be visited with various tour and dive companies in Khao Lak.  The Similan Islands are part of the Similan and Surin Marine National Park and of course, all the other islands like Tachai Island, Bon Island and Surin Islands will open as well.

What to do in Khao Lak ?

The first of the three temples you will visit is the nature temple of Wat Tumprayanakarat or Dragon Cave Temple. It was built into a cave that opens out at the bottom of a cliff face. The monks use this temple to do their meditation in. The Dragon Cave Temple is famous for the herbal tea that the monks make themselves. The herbal tea is made with water from the Limestone mountains and is used to clean the body. The meditation is to clean the spirit.

The second temple that you will visit is Wat Bang Riang. Here you will also see the Pagoda and the Goddess of Mercy statue, also known as Kwan Im. In the south of Thailand many Thai people believe in Kwan Im. Your tour guide will tell you the story of Kwan Im so you can understand why this goddess is so popular.
